Noise is not a substitute for correctness

For "religious" also read "political". The lunatic fanatics and brownshirts of the far-right and their mouthpieces on TV and radio, in the press and on the web are trying hard to twist the truth, but their noise is not a substitute for correctness.

Far-right Fanatics and their Fellow Travellers

The trouble with fanatics in any cause, whether religious or political, is that they do not recognise how dangerous they really are. Being so consumed by a paranoiac faith in the truth of their respective positions, they refuse to even consider that there just may be alternative positions that are equally valid. Everyone who does not believe as they do is seen as either an enemy, or a potential enemy. They are so consumed by their paranoias that that they will do anything and everything to destroy those enemies, including the use of hateful abuse, rumour (usually unfounded), spiteful lies and physical threats or physical action. They consider any method of action as justified, if it can eliminate their enemies, even though, paradoxically, it may clash with elements of their own respective dogmas.

We can see this very clearly, in modern times, in the words and actions of people like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Michelle Malkin, most Republican members in US federal and state organizations and the screaming members of right-wing groups. Their vitriolic hatred of President Obama (of the USA) and anything to do with him, his policies, or his people, is visceral, even though similar positions may have been taken by their own heros in the past. They are acting more like Hitler's Brownshirts than like rational human beings. I cannot remember rage like this when Bill Clinton was president. Are they reacting to a black man daring to be the president of their country? Is that the key to all this rage? On thing is sure: if anything bad happens to Obama, we will see them washing their hands (ala' Pontius Pilate) of any responsibility for what has happened.

Relationships

Relationships are fragile. They depend upon both parties being equally committed to it. They depend upon each party putting the other one before all else, without reservation, and making that person feel that he or she is the most important person in the universe. They depend upon each party having absolute loyalty to the other and on true communication between the two minds.

When only one person is committed to a relationship and the other is acting in ways that will harm or destroy it, it becomes soul destroying to the person whose heart and mind are still invested in keeping it sound. It becomes like a cancer that it eating away at that soul and, unless that cancer is removed or healed, it will overwhelm and destroy that soul.

Hard as it is, when you are the only one invested in making a relationship sound, it is time to let it move into history, because that relationship has no worth and attempting to keep a worthless relationship alive will only harm you in the long run. Hard as it may be, it would be time to move on with your life; to step out of the sludge that is holding you trapped and do the things that will heal your soul.

Mourning the passing of an entertainer (with respect for the author)

Okay, I need to rant.

I was just watching the news, and I caught part of a report on Michael
Jackson . As we all know, Jackson died the other day. He was an
entertainer who performed for decades. He made millions, he spent
millions, and he did a lot of things that make him a villain to many
people. I understand that his death would affect a lot of people, and
I respect those people who mourn his death, but that isn't the point
of my rant.

Why is it that when ONE man dies, the whole of America loses their
minds with grief. When a man dies whose only contribution to the
country was to ENTERTAIN people, the American people find the need to
flock to a memorial in Hollywood , and even Congress sees the need to
hold a "moment of silence" for his passing?

Am I missing something here? ONE man dies, and all of a sudden he's a
freaking martyr because he entertained us for a few decades? What
about all those SOLDIERS who have died to give us freedom? All those
Soldiers who, knowing that they would be asked to fight in a war,
still raised their hands and swore to defend the Constitution and the
United States of America . Where is their moment of silence? Where
are the people flocking to their graves or memorials and mourning over
them because they made the ultimate sacrifice? Why is it when a
Soldier dies, there are more people saying "good riddance," and "thank
God for IEDs?" When did this country become so calloused to the
sacrifice of GOOD MEN and WOMEN, that they can arbitrarily blow off
their deaths, and instead, throw themselves into mourning for a "Pop
Icon?"

I think that if they are going to hold a moment of silence IN CONGRESS
for Michael Jackson, they need to hold a moment of silence for every
service member killed in Iraq and Afghanistan . They need to PUBLICLY
recognize every life that has been lost so that the American people
can live their callous little lives in the luxury and freedom that WE,
those that are living and those that have gone on, have provided for
them. But, wait, that would take too much time, because there have
been so many willing to make that sacrifice. After all, we will never
make millions of dollars. We will never star in movies, or write hit
songs that the world will listen too. We only shed our blood, sweat
and tears so that people can enjoy what they have.

Sorry if I have offended, but I needed to say it. Feel free to pass

Chimps, gifts and sex

Chimpanzees enter into "deals" whereby they exchange meat for sex, according to researchers.

Male chimps that are willing to share the proceeds of their hunting expeditions mate twice as often as their more selfish counterparts.

This is a long-term exchange, so males continue to share their catch with females when they are not fertile, copulating with them when they are.

Well, Remington did break the current record. He is 20 hands high (80 inches) at the withers.

I have some dear friends who own a giant of a horse named "Remington" and that baby is still growing. When I first met him, some years ago, he was a wee tyke, who only stood at 17.2HH (hands high). Now, he is over 19HH. Will he be the next holder of the world's record for the "tallest living horse"? He (and my friends) have my best wishes.

Obama in the White House .. as President!

Well, in spite of all the crap from the the far-right, Obama is now the President of the USA and appears to be doing quite well. Sheesh: Obama Compared U.S. To Nazi Germany

"It never ends. Barack Obama is a Bad Man who has such contempt for this country he has no compunction comparing it to Nazi Germany. He does so in the now-famous Chicago Public Radio comments in a section apparently not yet disseminated. But now it has been starting at Little Green Footballs. Yeah, let's put this guy in the White House.

The audio recording of Barack Obama espousing his socialist philosophy of “redistribution of wealth” is all over the Internet and Fox News today (although most other media outlets are ignoring it), but there’s another disturbing section on that tape that has so far escaped notice...

At about 15:30, Obama compares what was going on in the United States during the time of Brown vs. the Board of Education to ... Nazi Germany. Yes, really. Here’s the quote:

“...just to take a, sort of a realist perspective...there’s a lot of change going on outside of the Court, um, that, that judges essentially have to take judicial notice of. I mean you’ve got World War II, you’ve got uh, uh, uh, the doctrines of Nazism, that, that we are fighting against, that start looking uncomfortably similar to what we have going on, back here at home.”

There you have it. America is close to electing a President who compares his own country to Nazi Germany."

Hey STUPID! He was comparing the race-hating doctrines that were extant at that time in some parts of America with the race-hating doctrines of the Nazis. Don't you comprehend what you are reading, or are you just blinded by your anti-Obama bigotry?

Far-right screeching

As the election draws closer, the screeching from the far-right fascist brownshirts, of whom Shaun Hannity and Rush Limbaugh are prime examples, are becoming shriller and more strident, vitriolic, etc. They are anti-everything-Obama and getting more and more creative, in a manner which is certainly very destructive to America. The Fox News crew is, for the most part, doing much the same. These people are putting their self-interests before the country and are now distinctly anti-American. We, the rational people of the country, must shun these people.

Yes, the crew at MSNBC is, for the most part, pro-Obama, but their comments about McCain/Palin do not contain the same shrillness or vitriol. Indeed, they seem to be doing what they do with class and humour.

By the way, isn't "Shaun" an Irish name? Is Hannity associated with the terrorist group "The Irish Republican Army" (IRA)?

Dick Morris has gone from being a commentator railing about Clinton "plots" to a person shrilly attempting to maintain his place as a "pundit". What a sad decline. His recent rantings on the Fox News Channel have been pathetic and this post is much the same. It's assumption based upon a vivid imagination and without informative value.

How one can back a failed senator, who has proven throughout this campaign to be totally without foresight and judgment, is stupidity itself. How one can assume that Obama will bring "Socialism" to the country, is a stretch and based upon a prejudiced assessment of his record and aims. One can expect this from The Idiot Hannity of Fox News, a fascist brownshirt if ever there was one, but hearing it from Morris is indicative of his fall from being relavant to being just another hack.

Like Colin Powell, I am a conservative. Also, like him, I support Obama. Why? In my case, I am very afraid of a McCain/Palin presidency. A bad-tempered, short-sighted, man who cannot adequately direct his own campaign and does not have any strategic vision is bad enough. Add to that a person who has a mind which is far from inquisitive, but who has delusions of grandeur and power, and you have the potential for a catastrophe of monumental propotions.

Not Surprised - Digger SAS BadAss, Wounded, Ties himself to vehicle and keeps fighting

DESPITE being shot twice during an ambush in Afghanistan, an SAS soldier lashed himself to the front of his patrol vehicle so he wouldn't be left behind if he passed out from loss of blood and kept on fighting.

The Digger is expected to be recommended for a high level bravery award.

Suffering from serious upper body wounds, the soldier struggled on to the front of his SAS long range patrol vehicle (LRPV) and, under heavy fire, used a rope to attach himself firmly between the vehicle's bull bar and radiator.

Once he was secured, and there was no chance that he would fall off if he fainted, he picked up his rifle and resumed firing at the enemy during a two-hour fighting withdrawal.

SAS troops and their special forces comrades from the Commando Regiment are well aware of the slow and painful death that awaits them if they are captured by the Taliban.

The Digger, who cannot be identified, faded in and out of consciousness, emptying several magazines as volleys of enemy rounds and rocket propelled grenades, rained down around him.

He was finally evacuated from the battle field at high speed still lashed to the front of the LRPV...

...A source told The Courier-Mail the Digger was now "up and about" and would recover fully from his serious gunshot wounds. His heroic deeds will be recognised when he is recommended for a high level bravery award.

Several others engaged in the do-or-die battle on September 2 are also in line for top honours...

Give me a fucking break

Sony has issued a worldwide recall of its new game, LittleBigPlanet, in case it offends muslims.

They were warned by a beta tester that one of the backing tracks, written by a Somali muslim, contains two phrases that are in the Koran and might be considered offensive by fundamentalist muslim nutjobs.

Sony release a game last year with a scene where you could shoot people up in Manchester cathedral but they didn’t withdraw the game after they got complaints. Yet here they are, without even getting a complaint, withdrawing a game because it’s got some words out of the Koran in it.

Apparently putting bits of the Koran to music is offensive because they’re words of god. But Jesus was supposed to have been one of Allah’s prophets so his words were the words of god as well so why is it that muslims don’t start jumping up and down when they puts Jesus’ words to music? Or any part of the Old Testament which is one of the holy books of Islam? Why? Because it’s not offensive, it’s just an excuse to have a fucking whinge and take the piss.

Manzoor Moghal, of the Muslim Forum think-tank, explained that words from the Koran should not be set to music because the words are seen to have come directly from God.

He added: “We must compliment Sony for taking decisive action by withdrawing these games immediately, and releasing a version that is not offensive to Muslims.”

These islamic wankers do not belong in the civilized world. Neither do their uneducated, uncultured imams.
